WORKOUT AT HOME
Home workouts? Gym workouts? To work out or not to workout? With how the world is currently, we’ve all been thrown a curveball in one way or another. So, don’t feel like you’re the only one who may have fallen off the wagon and gained a few extra pounds.
While I was in Colorado my gym was closed for over a month and the hunt to find any type of exercise equipment felt like an unfeasible mission. I finally was able to find a few things after a week of religiously going to all the Targets around me LOL. I began to do some at-home workouts, but it didn’t feel the same and I got into a workout funk and just simply didn’t workout for a while.
Now that I’ve moved back to SC for the time being I’ve gotten into a new workout routine, GYM FREE. I decided not to go back to a gym, for now, to save some money on a membership for the time being. Having a routine and not forcing myself to workout has been a huge game changer for me. If I plan to workout but later in the day after work I’m not really feeling it anymore, I take a rest day.
REST. REST. REST. Resting is just as important and needed for recovery to optimize your results.
OK, now that I’ve rambled on, HOME WORKOUTS.
SET YOUR ROUTINE
Just the same as going to the gym, get into a routine and set your workout split. For me, I like to train back & arms on Monday’s, leg’s on Tuesdays, REST Wednesdays, shoulders & chest on Thursdays, full body workouts on Friday, and either REST Saturday or Sunday or do another full body type of workout usually EMOM style. Like I said, don’t be afraid to REST!
EQUIPMENT
Some good equipment staples to have are:
- Resistance bands
- Dumbbells or kettlebells
- Exercise ball
- Disk sliders
- Jump rope
