Low Carb Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner! With how crazy things have been lately, it’ll be a fun little break in the chaos that calls for guac and chips and you can’t forget about a refreshing marg!

If you’ve been following a long with me, you know I’ve competed in a few bodybuilding shows. Since then due to wanting to create a healthy lifestyle, I’ve experimented with different types of eating and my body seems to thrive on a lower carb or ketogenic way of eating.

So how can I enjoy Cinco de Mayo with my lifestyle? Well I’ve found new ways to enjoy things that fit into my way of eating, like the cult classic: chips and guac! Though you can’t forget chips and queso either! Below are low carb keto friendly ways to enjoy your favorites on Cinco de Mayo!

Chips and Guac:
replace the tortilla chips with Whisps cheese crisp. They’re the perfect low carb alternative for chips! Dippable and crunchy, and they even have a new nacho flavor!

Guac Recipe: my own recipe! I add the seasonings to taste!
🥑 2 whole avocados
🥑 1tsp lime juice
🥑 Salt (to taste)
🥑 Cilantro (optional)
🥑 Diced onion (optional)
🥑 Everything But The Bagel Seasoning
🥑Garlic Powder
🥑Onion Powder
🥑 Trader Joes Chile Lime Seasoning

Chips and Queso:
replace the tortilla chips with pork rinds. Any queso dip will work! My favorite are the EPIC brand, either the Chile Lime flavor or the Pink salt!

Low Carb Nachos:
Using this same premise, you can also make low carb nachos! Using the pork rinds as the chips. Spread the pork rinds out on a plate, sprinkle your favorite cheese you’d use for nachos, add some ground beef, steak, or chicken, and then add your favorite (keto) nacho toppings! My perfect nacho set up is: cheese, ground beef, cilantro, black olives, avocado, and sour cream, and a little bit of salsa!

Last but certainly not least M A R G S! Who doesn’t love a good margarita? Below is a low carb margarita recipe for you to enjoy without straying away from the ketogenic way of living. You can modify this recipe to any flavor you’d like and take out the jalapeño for a non-spicy version!

Spicy Mango Margarita:
low carb and sugar free
🍹 Your favorite tequila
🍹 Fresh lime juice
🍹 A few drops of stevia
🍹Mango seltzer
🍹Chopped jalapeño

Get your favorite margarita glass and use some of the left over lime juice to wet the rim. Then sprinkle some coarse salt and a little Chile lime seasoning on a plate to dip into the mixture to salt the rim. In a shaker add ice, tequila, lime juice, chopped jalapeños, and stevia (to taste). Then give it your best bartending shake! Add some ice to your glass and pour the glass half full with the mango seltzer. Now pour your margarita mixer from your shaker into your glass, take a spoon to mix the mango seltzer in with the marg mixture. Garnish with lime wedge or jalapeño slice and enjoy!

I hope everyone has a great week and enjoys Cinco de Mayo! These little recipes are quick and easy and great for celebrating at home! Comment below if you try any of these out! ORRRR if you have any of your own keto/low carb recipes for Cinco or Taco Tuesdays!
